2024 in Review

One of my favourite stories of the year to write is always the 'year in review': it's so satisfying to look over the year and remember all that happened, from the AI energy surge to rocks retrieved from the far side of the Moon, a spike in dengue cases and hope for dementia. Here's hoping I didn't forget anything big :)

A panoramic illustration where a river flows through various landscapes, connecting different elements. Starting from the left, there's a close-up of a fly's brain, shown as a glowing, intricate network. The river then flows past an area strewn with moon rocks, which appear rugged and silvery under a starlit sky. Further along, the riverbanks widen to depict a scene of a hurricane in the distance, its swirling clouds dramatic against the horizon. Overhead, the sky is lit by the colorful waves of an aurora, casting a surreal glow over the landscape. Interspersed in the river are bits of plastic pollution, subtly highlighted to show their impact on the environment. The river, central to the composition, symbolizes the connection between these diverse natural and celestial phenomena.
